Julie Markfield is a contemporary artist living in Los Angeles, CA and Santa Fe, NM.

Markfield was born and raised in Buffalo, New York.

Markfield holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and has additional qualifications from the Parsons School of Design in New York City, the New England School of Photography in Boston, and Brunel University in the United Kingdom.  Markfield studied with Wendell Castle in upstate New York and Lazlo Roth in NYC.

Markfield launched a graphic design company in 1992, CMg Design, that focused on corporate communications and branding for public, private, and non-profit institutions.

Markfield left the corporate world in recent years and shifted her focus from design to abstract painting.  Life began anew when she started to paint: a rebirth of sorts.  Her work deals with themes of energy, flow, life and loss, and interpersonal relationships.

Markfield has participated in group shows, solo exhibitions, and has published in several journals.  Markfield’s collectors include celebrities, Fortune 500 clients, private corporations and friends.
